ASAP has reached 150,000 members! We are so excited to share this achievement with you. ASAP’s membership reflects 150,000 asylum seekers united under the collective vision of building a better and more humane asylum system. We are so thankful that you are part of the ASAP community.
ASAP’s members are from 175 different countries around the world. Today, members’ most common countries of origin include China, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Mexico, and Venezuela. Members live across the United States, in all 50 states and territories.
“When there are more of us, our voice becomes audible,” one ASAP member from Colombia said.
So much is possible when asylum seekers stand together. Already, ASAP members’ lawsuit protecting asylum seekers’ ability to work has helped over 100,000 asylum seekers receive their work permits! And ASAP recently hosted a historic meeting between separated families and Secretary Mayorkas, the government official who oversees ICE and Border Patrol.
In the future, we hope to offer more opportunities like these so that more ASAP members can participate in reshaping the asylum system. At this moment, we are doing our best to continue processing membership applications for thousands of new members each week. During this period of rapid growth, we want to acknowledge that our opportunities are limited, and we may not be able to provide all the services you request. We apologize for our limitations, and we are grateful for your patience as we grow to welcome more asylum seekers.
We are so thankful to each and every one of ASAP’s 150,000 members. All of you play a role in shaping ASAP’s future, and we cannot wait to see what we will accomplish together.
