Laura (Lau) Veira-Ramírez

Membership Engagement Associate

Laura is a Membership Engagement Associate at the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP).

Prior to joining ASAP, Lau taught 7th grade English and Spanish in Chelsea, MA. Previously, they also worked as a bilingual paraeducator supporting recent immigrant high school students in Norwalk, CT.

Lau completed their Bachelor’s degree at Harvard College with a joint concentration in History & Literature and Studies of Women, Gender, & Sexuality. They also earned a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Laura was born in Bogotá, Colombia and immigrated to the United States with their family when they were three years old. They are a DACA recipient and first got involved in immigrant rights work as a high school student through Connecticut Students for a Dream. They speak English, Spanish, and French. In their free time, they enjoy reading, cooking, crocheting, and playing board games.
