Ngan Tran

Technology Director

Ngan Tran is ASAP’s Technology Director.

Her background is in life sciences; she has a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a Masters in Biomedical Sciences. She left the biology lab bench behind to pursue her passions for software and technology, and earned a B.S. in Computer Science. She hopes to apply her background in research and her knowledge in computing to contribute to helping solve real-world problems. Ngan enjoys seeking out and learning new technologies and digital tools that can be harnessed to build social-minded tech.

As a daughter of Vietnamese refugee parents and as a first-generation immigrant herself, Ngan has always been an active ally for the rights of asylum seekers. She has been committed to helping break down barriers and challenges that many immigrants face, specifically language barriers. Ngan is fluent in Vietnamese and has both volunteered and worked as a translator/interpreter.

Ngan was born in a refugee camp in Singapore and grew up in Missouri, where her family resettled. She is a nature lover and a general maker-of-things, both with and without a keyboard.
